The BMW brand has invaded Detroit; for the North American International Auto Show, that is. The brand brought along some new BMW models to the show this year—both an updated lineup of the BMW 6-Series and the scene-stealing, show-stopping new BMW i8. These vehicles all push the brand forward in terms of both power and luxury, a significant statement for a brand with such high performance standards.
The new 6-Series lineup includes Coupe, Gran Coupe, and Convertible versions—and all of them are amazing. The Coupe and Gran Coupe models come with a 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine—an engine that pushes out 560 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. You can pair that engine with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic to complete the powertrain.
Despite the full lineup of 6-Series models on display, though, people flocked over to the beautiful new i8 electric car in droves at the show. BMW refers to it as the “sports car of the future,” and looking at it will convince you that you have indeed traveled forward in time. Come see us here at JMK BMW to learn more about all these new models today.
