Summer has officially ended and autumn has arrived and we want to make sure you keep your BMW in its best shape for this fall and upcoming winter season! With the fall season comes fog, sun glare and frost in the mornings for your morning commute to work. When the leaves begin to change color and fall from the trees, these can also be a hazardous driving condition. Here at JMK BMW, we want to make sure you’re prepared for all that autumn has to offer and to help keep your BMW safe!
Some fall driving tips include:
- Increase your following distance in severe weather, at dusk and dawn and when you are in an area with wet leaves. Wet leaves can be just as slippery as ice as well as obscure traffic lines and pavement markings. Slow down and use extra caution.
- Make sure you check your BMW’s headlights, taillights and turn signals to make sure they are all working properly. Since Daylight Savings Time will happen before we know it, many drivers’ morning and evening commutes will be in the dark. Make sure you turn your headlights on as the sunlight fades if you do not have automatic headlights!
- Make sure your tires are in tip-top shape and have a sufficient tread depth. If we get early snow fall this year you want to make sure your BMW is well equipped and ready.
- Autumn also brings an increase in deer activity and we want to make sure you watch carefully for deer darting across and along the roadways.
