The second-generation BMW X3 launched back in 2010 and BMW decided to keep things fresh with some changes for the 2015 model year. Not only did they enhance the exterior, but the biggest news for us is what’s now under the hood.
BMW is now offering an X3 xDrive28d in addition to the 2.0-liter turbo-four and 3.0-liter turbo-six engines. The X3 xDrive28d will have the 2.0-liter turbodiesel inline four-cylinder engine that is found in the 328d sedan. This engine produces 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. BMW stated that this engine will help the X3 reach 60 miles per hour in slightly less than eight seconds. However, BMW hasn’t released any information regarding the X3 diesel’s fuel economy figures, real or even predicted.
BMW will also offer a two-wheel-drive X3, the sDrive28i. Pricing for the newly refreshed 2015 X3 starts at $39,325 which excludes the $925 destination charge. The diesel trim will cost $42,825.
